RECORD SET AT CHARLES TOWN RACES

 

Researcher raced under Rutledge Farm colors to set a new 1 1/8 mile track record.  In that performance, Researcher also ran a record Equibase Speed Figure of 133 , which was the highest Speed Figure for North American racing that year, establishing him as an underdog who became one of racing’s all-time greatest.  As of early 2018, no horse in North American racing has ever run a faster Equibase Speed Figure.

Colonial Affair’s Belmont history-making victory established his jockey (Julie Krone) as the first female jockey to win a Classic stakes race.  

 

Sur La Tete’s triumph established a blistering new track record time.

CLASSIC WINNERS AND MULTIPLE LEGS OF TWO TRIPLE CROWNS

 

Colonial Affair’s 1993 Belmont Stakes win was the third leg of thoroughbred flat racing’s Triple Crown (Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes, Belmont Stakes).

Sur La Tete’s 2004 Georgia Cup and Meadowbrook Stakes wins were the first and third legs of Steeplechasing’s 2004 Triple Crown.  (Georgia Cup, National Hunt Cup, Meadowbrook Stakes)
